At Gretton School we believe that every student must be provided with opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, academically and physically to achieve the highest possible standards. We are an inclusive learning community that is forward thinking, innovative and confident and committed to ensuring that all students are happy, enthusiastic and purposeful learners.
A home from home
In addition to day places, Gretton offers weekly residential placements during term time.
The accommodation comprises a number of warm and welcoming houses, on site, providing single bedrooms, and spacious communal living areas, a dining room and a well-equipped kitchen.
Just as you would find at home, the houses each have a garden and the residential students can also make use of the grounds around the school, the trampoline, the football field and the playground equipment.
Students are supported and encouraged to personalise their bedrooms and participate in the day-to-day running of the homes, preparing them for independent living. Their tasks include preparing meals, washing up, doing their laundry and learning how to budget for food. They can also participate in gardening and decorating in the residential setting.
Our highly qualified and experienced care team supports our residential students to develop key life skills, in line with their Individual Placement Plans.
My son speaks so highly of the school, he says all his teachers are kind and funny and none of them shout at him or force him to do things he can’t.
The students also play an important role in the recruitment of new staff, helping to interview them and providing feedback.
