Share a story for primary students – Monday 12th March – 1.10pm – 1.30pm (Primary classrooms)
Students will be invited to listen to a selection of stories chosen by and read by school staff.
Book trail – Tuesday 13th March
Pictures of popular book characters will be hidden around the school. All the students need to do is see me for a book trail sheet, find the 10 pictures located around the school and name the book characters. There will be a small prize for all students completing the trail.
Scholastic book fair – Wednesday 14th March to Wednesday 21st March, 2.45pm daily.
We have a Scholastic book fair coming into school giving the students a chance to buy a range of fiction and non-fiction books whilst earning book rewards for our school. If you would like your child to participate in the book fair then please send any contributions into school in a named envelope stating book fair on the front. Students will also be able to spend their merits at the book fair. Look out for the leaflet that will be sent home. If any students are available to help sell books then that would be greatly appreciated.
Wednesday 14th March 1.10pm – 3.00pm
Explore your favourite author through film. Classrooms will be set up as mini cinemas with popcorn giving students the opportunity to mix with different children in school and go and see a book by one of their favourite authors shown as a film. Staff will ensure that all films viewed are age appropriate.
Dress as your favourite book character – Thursday 15th March
- Students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. There will be prizes for the best costumes (a £5 scholastic book token)
- The hall will also be set up with a book exchange. If you have any books at home that you no longer want then please can they be brought into school on Monday 12th March. Each student that brings in a book in will then be given a raffle ticket for each book donated. They will then be able to exchange their old book for a different book of their choice using their raffle tickets at 2.45pm that afternoon.
Get caught reading – All entries to be in by Friday 16th March
Staff and students are invited to take a photo of themselves reading in an unusual place. The winner will receive a free £5 book token to spend at the scholastic book fair. A display will then be put up in school using all the photos received.
World book day tokens
Every student in school will receive a free £1 book token on Monday 12th March that can be redeemed against a purchase at our school book fair as well as local book shops.
